Playing with Clay!!!

Here are some images taken of our experimental character-designing attempts using clay.

Here is some footage taken of cutting the clay with some sculpting tools.

Ideally, we would like for this footage to guide our animations, but it looks like this clay might have been too moist.  The cuttings aren’t as smooth/fluid as we were hoping for.

I’ve been playing around with ZBrush and here’s my first attempt at a model of the real figure outside the mirror.  Right now it looks like an alien but I’ll try to get it looking more like Giacometti’s figures next time.

Visual Development

Here are some images that I’ve found to help communicate the art direction of the project.  There are examples of how the figure in the mirror should look and how the real figure should look.  I found some textures that represent what the cuts would look like on the figure in the mirror.  I also have examples of the set (mirror, table, tools) and the lighting.  I want there to be some dirt/grunge on the mirror so I’ve included examples of that as well.
